Dealing with Conflict



Conflict is inevitable. So how are you going to deal with it when it occurs? God wants us to maintain the spirit of unity in the bond of peace. Satan wants to cause division among the people of God, especially in your closest relationships. He is out to kill, steal and destroy. You need to stop the devil in his tracks by obeying the word of God. Pray that God will give the power, grace and wisdom to deal with conflict constructively.

Deal with conflict properly

“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church.” Matthew 18 15-17

Forgive the one who offended you

Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Colossians 3:13

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32

Try to keep the peace

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:3

Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. 1 Peter 3:11

Followers of Jesus show love

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Matthew 5:44-45
